Open Question: How can I convince my parents to get me a car?

First off, I'm 19 and drive to a community college everyday. Currently, I drive a 2002 Toyota Highlander that was essentially given to me by my parents when they bought new ones. For the past few months I've been wanting to get a Subaru WRX (2002 - 2004). I have ~$6k saved up and the Toyota is worth about 9 grand still, according to KBB. I have a part time job, but I'm only given 12 hours a week which is about $80 each week. I will make less than a grand every three months and about $3500 a year. I figure it will take forever to save for a car on my income. I have researched the WRX a ton since I started thinking about it and the ins and outs of one.I brought the topic up to my dad a few weeks ago, but he said it wasn't my car. I understand that, but I'm the only one that drives it anywhere. When is the right time to bring this up to my folks? I'm going to the Chicago auto show with my mom next Tuesday.
